Summary: While on
a walk with his mother, a little boy shouts, “Mama, look!”, as he discovers
animals, bugs, and birds in his surroundings.
Review: This is a
wonderful short story that is perfect for themed storytimes about spring,
outdoors, nature, or animals. The simple extra-large text names what the little
boy sees and extra-large, colorful illustrations are beautifully detailed. The 2nd of the two page spread
gives a hint of what the little boy will encounter next and is a wonderful way
for children to learn to predict what they think is coming next. I can see children having fun shouting what the
boy sees as the reader turns the page. Because the little boy encounters 14
different creatures, this would also be a great book to use as a flannel story.
