Review: I love to read these Cat books during storytime. They are so interactive. The kids really get into Cats crazy antics. In this book Cat wants to be the Easter Bunny but first he has to decide what he’ll wear? How will he travel? What will he be delivering? And most important when’s nap time? Summary: This is a very simple picture book of naptimes with a toddler and his puppy.  Since the day the family adopted the little puppy, Theo, the two have napped together.  Mom would rock her son to sleep and then put him down in her big bed.  Theo would climb up on the bed and snuggle with Beau for a 2 hour nap.  The photos of the two napping are, as they say, priceless.

Review: A very cute book!  After reading the book I went online to look at more pictures of Theo and Beau taking their afternoon nap.  These two have a very special bond.

Summary: Meet Goat. He thinks he’s pretty cool, riding his bike and making treats for the class, until Unicorn shows up. Unicorn can fly, and get this… He can make it rain cupcakes! How can Goat top that? But maybe Goat and Unicorn can learn to be friends after all. This book is bright, colorful and glittery. The illustrations contain lots of fun little details that enhance the story.

Review: This book is sure to delight kids and adults alike! I loved the bright, fun illustrations almost as much as I loved the moral of the story: everyone is special in their own way and should be proud to be themselves. This is a great book to talk about self-esteem, jealousy, and friendship. This would be a great book for kids anywhere from preschool up to third grade.

Review: Get the Kleenex ready! This story is uplifting and heartwarming. This is one of the lesser-known aspects of the Berlin Airlift following World War II as seen through the eyes of a seven-year-old girl. Operation Little Vittles was run by Lt. Gail Halvorsen who, out of the goodness of his heart, began dropping candy in parachutes made from handkerchiefs to the children of West Berlin. It is a reminder that there are American soldiers who have provided a variety of rescues for people in other countries, a reminder that every child is important, and a reminder that one caring person can change the world. Have your chocolate close by when you read this one.

Summary: A look at the last 20 years of Jefferson’s life at Monticello told by his three sons and their mother, Sally Hemings, a slave on his plantation.

Review: This is a fictional account of Jefferson’s slave children and the last 20 years at Monticello. It is so well written and shows how complicated the situation was, but the author makes it simple to follow because the research is so meticulously detailed and fascinating. It is a heart-breaking, yet fascinating story, showing that no matter how kind the slave owner (parent) may be, his slave children will never be accepted as family. The writing is excellent and makes the listener seem that you were there and could feel injustice and pain of the offspring.

Summary: When a hippopotamus discovers a spot on her bottom, it seems every creature in the jungle knows what it is and how to cure it.

Review: This is such a cute, silly funny picture book that was such a joy to read! I am a big fan of rhyming picture books and this one does not disappoint and reminds me of Dr. Seuss’ style of rhyming. This story would be perfect to introduce jungle animals to your child and both child and parent will enjoy the hilarious ending that finally lets you know what the spot is on Hippo’s behind.
