Summary: Rabbit
Doubt—a mobile phone game—has taken Japan by storm. In it, players are
rabbits who must uncover the wolf in rabbit’s clothing before falling prey to
its mistrust-sowing wiles…as well as its teeth. When a group of teen players
decides to meet offline for fun, the last thing they expect is to lose
consciousness and wake up trapped in an abandoned building, mysterious bar
codes tattooed on their bodies, and a corpse strung up in front of them. To
stay alive and find a way out, they have but one option—to sniff out the lying
wolf in their midst. Will these virtual acquaintances be able to pull it
together in the real world and figure out what’s going on in time to avoid
ending up as the wolf’s dinner??
Review: The first volume of Doubt
sets the stage for the suspenseful tale of horror that's about to unfold from
the very first couple of pages. Detailing the game of paranoia that the
characters we soon meet played together, though their little in person get together
soon takes a turn for the macabre. Waking from having been knocked unconscious
our little group finds themselves trapped within a building with locked doors
with bar codes marked on their bodies as the keys. And even before they learn
the secrets of the bar codes they discover a gruesome surprise, one I just
won't spoil. They soon learn that the game they've played for fun is now real,
they must discover the wolf that hides amongst them if they wish to survive.
But will they be able to find the truth amongst the lies, or will the wolf
gobble them up? For even the reader is lead astray in this tale of paranoia and
survival, every assumption the reader makes could be found false in another
page. Who will win the game and survive? We'll have to read on to find out..
